Announcement

Due to low volume, both at sign-ups and during checkpoint #1, the 2014 Fallout Big Bang will not be proceeding as planned. Fandoms are cyclic in nature: there are busy times, and there are slow times, and that’s okay. There are still a lot of incredible people creating amazing things for the Fallout fandom right now, but there wasn’t enough interest in structure of the Big Bang to justify running it this year. Hopefully, by this time next year, Fallout 4 will have been released or announced, and the fandom will be busy enough to host another Big Bang. In that case, Ghoulmod will happily moderate the challenge, as she has done this year.

That said, some of the authors and artists have already made significant progress on their work, and will be posting their stories and art once they’re finished, and they’ll be advertised here, and on LiveJournal. In other words, watch this space! Ghoulmod is more than happy to advertise for anyone who would have participated, had the Big Bang proceeded as planned.

Ghoulmod would like to apologize for any disappointment caused by this announcement, but remember: there’s always next year.

Until then, over and out.

Checkpoint #1 is now closed.

Check point #1 has closed. The snippets and summaries will be posted Friday February 14th, and artist claims will open on Sunday February 16th. Thank you to all the participants!

Artist Sign-Ups Closed, Checkpoint #1 Open, Change in Deadline

falloutbigbang:

Artist sign-ups for the 2014 Fallout Big Bang are now officially closed. Meanwhile, Author Check-In #1 is now open. Authors, please comment on this post with the relevant information within the next 48 hours (by noon CT on Wednesday, February 12th). Because the check-in opened late, the due date has been pushed back 24 hours. The timing for artist claims has been modified to reflect this change.

What happens after you check-in?

On February 14th (Valentine’s Day!), Ghoulmod will make a post with the summaries and snippets listed anonymously. Artists will have two days to review the snippets and summaries, and on February 16th, artists will comment on here with their top three choices from the anonymously posted snippets and summaries. After that, Ghoulmod will pair up the authors and artists and send introductory emails to collaborators by February 19th.

Artist Sign-Ups+Checkpoint #1

Hello Wasteland!

On Monday, February 10th artist sign-ups will close. If you’re on the fence about participating, now is the time to sign up! Remember, art isn’t just limited to digital and traditional illustrations, fanmixes are more than welcome!

Checkpoint #1 will be Tuesday, February 11th! By this point, authors need to post a brief summary of their story, along with a 100 word snippet. You do not need to have your story completed at this point. Snippets and summaries will be posted anonymously for artist claims.

Happy creating!
